Apartment block Lindenkruis
Apartement block at Maagdendries - Lindenkruis Maastricht
The apartment building "Lindenkruis" is a residential building that exists of 22 apartments. It is located at the corner where the streets Lindenkruis and Maagdendries intersect, in the heart of the city of Maastricht. The challenge of designing this building was found in the requirement for the apartments to be wheelchair-friendly, which had to be combined with making the storage units accessible from the central hall.
The building consists of two volumes, slided into eachother, both topped off by an aluminium gable roof. The largest of these two, located at the Maagdendries, is designed to have a classic symmetric facade. The position of the windows splits the facade in three parts coincides with the facades of neighbouring manor houses.
The entrance of the building is accentuated by placing it below a set of balconies. The smaller building volume also connects to its surrounding manor houses. Three apartments are housed in the roof caps. Large balconies aimed towards the south provice a high living quality to two of these apartments.
