Theater De Maaspoort
Renovation and extension theater De Maaspoort, Venlo
The renovation and extension of De Maaspoort theater is part of project "De Luif", which is named after the remains of the fortifications found on the site. The extension of the theater includes the construction of a new building part alongside the river Meuse. "De Luif" consists of a car park, multi-level commercial spaces and the theater itself, which is situated on the upper levels. The complex is revitalised by the construction of a new, flexible theater with a maximum capacity of 350 seats or 900 stands. In this project, our aim was to transform the theater into a dynamic, attractive and future-proof cultural hotspot. This dynamism is expressed by wavelike white roofs and facades which are inspired by the movement of the nearby river.
