FiMek Estate
Office villa, Zaltbommel
An office villa has been designed for property developer FiMek Estate to serve as its own accommodation. The building is located in Zaltbommel, more precise in an area between the office buildings alongside motorway A2 and residential area De Waluwe. It forms the intermediary between both zones.
The building consists out of a composition of three connected volumes aligned with the semi-circular buildings on the north side and in the same orientation as the offices to the east. These rectangular volumes vary in dimensions but are related to each other.
The middle volume, the highest one is rotated compared to the other two and is the building part where the entrance is located. In the center of the building, guests are received and employees meet in a spacious room adjacent to the garden. The middle volume is also the connector to the elongated office wing on the east side and the smaller meeting wing on the south side, both overlooking the same garden.
The facades of the building are characterized by horizontal windows. At the location of the garden, these windows extend into all there volumes, embracing the terrace. The facades are built from brick masonry that stands on a natural stone plinth and is enriched with natural stone thresholds and gargoyles. The blended brickwork consists of a selection of fresh orange and warm red hand-shaped bricks that give character to the large closed surfaces.
The composition of simple volumes and modern application of traditional materials give the building a familiar, chic but also modest appearance. It even was the motivation and inspiration for FiMek Estate’s renewed brand style.
